What are you putting into your body?

With words like “detox” and “clean living” gaining more popularity, you might wonder where we encounter these toxins in the first place.  Here’s a few places you might be unintentionally letting toxins into your body.

  1. Skincare products

The average woman uses 16 beauty products on a daily basis.  16.  AND the ingredients in those products enter our bloodstream after just 26 seconds, so you can see how important it is to know what we are putting on our skin.  It isn’t an easy task to research the ingredients in every product you use…and that’s why I use Beatycounter!  All of the ingredients in their products are researched.  I don’t have to worry that what I am putting on my skin will cause any irritation or issues internally.

2. Fruit and Veggies

Fruit and vegetables often carry trace amounts of the pesticides and fertilizers on their skin.  The EWG tested 48 popular fruits and vegetables for pesticide persistence.  Studies have linked these chemicals to a range of health problems.  This emphasizes the importance of thoroughly washing produce and buying organic when possible.

3. Your shoes

When we leave the house, we are exposed to all sorts of germs and chemicals.  We don’t have to bring them into the house, though!  A good quality floor mat will keep those toxic substances in the entryway.  Indoor air pollution is one of the top five environmental health problems in America.  Where do these pollutants come from?  85% of contaminants are brought into our home in the first four steps, but a good quality entry mat can put a stop to that.  It will remove many pesticides and pollutants and reduce the time you have to spend cleaning up dirty footprints!

Why use the Infrared sauna, even in the summertime.

   What is an infrared Sauna?

Infrared heat is everywhere! At the beach, under a tree, sitting in your backyard watching the kids play.Infrared saunas are known for their abundance of healthy and lifelong benefits. But...what is an infrared sauna?  An infrared sauna is a sauna that uses infrared light to heat your body directly instead of the air around you, making your body able to benefit at lower temperatures, unlike a steam sauna which uses harsh temperatures and oppressive steam, which could make it hard to breathe.

Infrared Light

Infrared light is not something that is visible to the human eye, but gives it's users immense relaxation and health benefits. If it's just a light, how can we get warm from it? Our skin and clothes will absorb the heat that is being transferred. Infrared light can penetrate your body 1 1/2 to 3". Well, if it's just heat, why can't I just go outside and use natural sunlight? I will name some of the reasons why everyone should use infrared saunas even when it is summer/warm outside.

 How is it different?

Infrared saunas gives its users all the benefits of being outside naturally without the harmful effects of the suns uv rays. The difference between Infrared saunas and natural sunlight is basically being in the hot sun vs sitting under a tree in the shade. While in the shade you can indeed still feel warm in the sun because the light that is hitting your skin and clothes will keep you warm, but you are not exposed to the harsh elements of the sun. In addition to this, Infrared saunas are known for having no health risks.

Benefits.

Here are some of the benefits.

#1 Pain Relief: Since infrared light heats the body directly, the heating of the body's muscles, tissues, and joints decreases aches and pains by relaxing the muscles.

#2 Weight loss: Infrared sauna use can burn up to 600 calories in a 30 minute session, the equivalent of running 2-3 miles.

#3 Skin Purification: Infrared Sauna use eliminates toxins from your pores, increases circulation, giving you clear, soft, and healthy skin.

#4 Relaxation: Infrared Sauna use helps your body balance its level of cortisol (your body's primary stress hormone.

#5 Detox: Everyday we are exposed to things that can harm our bodies....pollution, pesticides, processed foods.....etc. Our bodies form water molecules around these toxins like a capsule because our bodies have a hard time ridding itself of these toxins and then stores them in our fat cells. Infrared light penetrates these "capsules" and makes the vibrate and break open so that we are able to sweat them out in the sauna.

In addition to these popular benefits there are a plethora of other benefits. It is a beneficial activity that you can use all year round. It's more than just something to keep you warm in the winter months.

Five Things You Need to Know About Infrared Saunas

Have you ever wondered what is actually involved in an infrared sauna treatment?  Maybe you’re hesitant to try it.  Here’s the top five things you didn’t know about infrared saunas:

1.  There’s no steam!

Many people have told me the reason they don’t like saunas is the steam.  It is wet, it makes it hard to breathe, and is just plain uncomfortable.  If you are one of those people, have no fear!  Our infrared saunas use dual wave micron technology, meaning that you feel the same heat from all sides without the steam!    They are free of harmful UV rays and oppressive steam.  Our saunas are made with certified 100% nontoxic materials.*

2.  They detoxify you.

Because we are exposed to so many toxic substances throughout the day, detoxification is important and will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.  Infrared saunas are especially effective because treatments produce a deep sweat that releases toxins.

3.  Infrared saunas help you along your fitness journey.

With a busy life comes less time to exercise.  Injuries also can limit what you do for your health.  Infrared sauna sessions are a quick way to burn calories and pair well with a good fitness routine.  The Journal of the American Medical Association noted that “regular use of a sauna may be as effective a means of cardiovascular conditioning and burning calories as regular exercise.”  Because the sauna raises your core temperature, it stimulates your metabolism.  Along with burning calories, infrared saunas can alleviate pain from various ailments.

4.  You can boost your immune system with use of infrared saunas.

At New You, your health is the most important thing to us.  Regular use of saunas, coupled with natural health practices, can help get you to optimal health.  Sauna use helps to fight off bacteria, viruses, and helps ease inflammation.  We have a variety of sauna treatments that include essential oils.  We also offer aromatherapy, aroma touch sessions, and more for your personal health needs.

5.  The experience is comfortable and relaxing.

Our infrared saunas are always kept fresh and clean, so you don’t have to worry about anything as you relax in your private suite.  Enjoy relaxing music, a beneficial sauna treatment, the aroma of essential oils, and more.  A robe and slippers are provided for your use.  You can rehydrate with our infused water after your treatment.

So, come try it out.  Sit back, relax, and do what’s best for your health.  You will leave feeling like a new you.
